Come see us at the Matthews United Methodist Mental Health Fair on Saturday, May 16, 2026! Alicia will be presenting a therapeutic horticulture workshop on site from 9-10:30:

Cultivating Hope: Seed Starting for a Salsa Garden”

Come connect with others around the benefits of growing your own food, learn about seed starting and plant care, and work together on a common goal! Discuss the mental health benefits of gardening, including exploring topics like hope, resiliency, and the benefits of sunlight. Choose the type of tomato seeds and peppers, plant seeds in a tray to take home, and discuss appropriate care of seedlings as well as preparing them for transplanting. Participants will also engage in mindfulness practices as well as discussion throughout the workshop. There will be options for plants suitable for container gardening or in-ground gardening. This workshop is offered for free as part of the Mental Health Fair - no sign up required but space is limited to 20 participants on a first come basis.
And stay tuned for these futures workshops as part of the "Growing in Wellness" series, a partnership with the mental health team at MUMC (details and signup will be forthcoming):
